Layered Coffin - Tando Creative

Happy Halloween! I'm sharing a 3D coffin for the Same But Different Coffin theme this week on the Tando Creative Design Blog. I've so enjoyed seeing what my fellow team members have created with the same supplies!

I assembled my Layered Coffin with Cobweb Detail and covered the outside with a layer of black crackle paint. I added a canvas skull, keyhole and a bouquet of black roses to the lid and some hinges between the top and bottom layers.

I covered the inside of the coffin with a coat of the same black crackle paint and used the Poppy Mask and some acrylic paint to add colorful flowers to the coffin lid. I lined the coffin base with satin and lace. I colored my skeleton with gesso and Distress Ink.

Dark Night Card - CSW Distributors

Hi! I'm sharing a Halloween card for CSW Distributors today. I embossed a piece of patterned paper with the Large Vintage Girl Embossing Folder and then highlighted the embossing with Black Soot Distress Ink. I love how the design form the Large Vintage Girl Embossing Folder frames the card edge.

I created a frame for the owl using the Oval Nesting Dies and Scalloped Oval Nesting Dies. I attached all the elements to this card with Foam Mounting Tape for a fun 3D effect!

Super Boy - Paper House Productions

Hi! I'm sharing a super fun layout about a super fun boy for Paper House Productions today. I used the Birthday Boy Collection for this page. Its easy to adapt this birthday themed line to celebrate an everyday super hero with a little creative cutting.

I started by covering up the "Happy Birthday" text on the patterned paper with my own title that I pieced together with sticker parts from the Birthday Boy Cardstock Sticker and the Birthday Boy 3D Sticker sets. I really love the foil accents!

I used a selection of foiled cardstock, clear and epoxy stickers to accent my photo collage.

I added dimension to my page by raising this piece of patterned paper off the page with foam mounting tape.

If you have a super boy in your life, the Paper House Productions Birthday Boy collection is vibrant and exciting and perfect for documenting all your super occasions.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Scary Cute - Moxxie

Hi! I'm sharing a Halloween layout that I created using patterned papers and stickers from the Very Merry Unbirthday collection for Moxxie today. I enjoy using my themed paper lines all year long and really get a kick out of finding ways to stretch my collections. The B-sides of the patterned papers and the Border Stickers have generic patterns in a bright and fun color palette that was just perfect for a scary cute Halloween layout.

Once I pieced together my colorful background, I used the October photo page from my 2011 calendar. Working with a large photo was so fun! I finished the page by adding a small cluster of Halloween themed embellishments from my stash.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Thanksgiving Canvas - Quick Quotes

Hi! I'm sharing a home decor piece that I created with the October Club Q Altered Kit for Quick Quotes today. The Club Q Kits this month include patterned papers from the NEW Happiness Collection. The color palette is fantastic for fall. The Happiness line combines traditional Autumn hues with several bright shades for a fun, fresh color palette that is so fun to work with!

I used several pieces of patterned paper and some of the fun die-cuts and plastic pieces from the kit to embellish this canvas. I wasn't at all surprised to find the perfect vellum sentiment to finish this piece in the Quick Quotes Sentiments Bundle.

I first selected a fun flower print stencil, taped the top and bottom edges to the canvas to hold it in place, and then spread a thin layer of Molding Paste over the design.

My stencil wasn't quite large enough to cover the canvas panel completely, so I added strips of torn cardboard to the top and bottom to help fill the space and to add another layer of texture to the piece. I painted the cardboard with a coat of Gesso and set aside the canvas to dry. Note: It is best to let the paste dry naturally rather than use a heat gun. Applying direct heat to the paste will dry the top layer quickly but will leave the bottom layer wet.

While the Molding Paste and Gesso was drying on the canvas, I made a flower. I used the gorgeous maroon Happiness 100 patterned paper, Bloody Mary and Lemonade PowderPuff Chalking Ink and a Tattered Floral die set to create the deep red flower. Note: The large green flower was made for me by a friend and the smaller white flower is store-bought. A large leaf cluster of even a pretty bow would work equally well as embellishments.

I gathered a small pile of product that I thought would look good with the flowers, which will be the main focal point of my canvas. There is a nice selection of ribbon, plastic pieces and die-cut leaves in the kit. I pulled a doily, a branch, chipboard, mesh and some rhinestones from my stash.

I selected two colors of Radiant Rain Mist, Honeydew and Ginger Peach, to quickly add some all-over color and shimmer to the background of my canvas. While holding the canvas upright, I sprayed 3-4 pumps of each color in a small area and let the mist run down the canvas. Note: I did dry the mist with a heat gun. The heat gun also works great to direct drops of mist down the canvas.

I filled in the white space on the canvas with PowderPuff Chalking Ink. I used Lemonade, Limeade and Green With Envy on the base of the canvas and Bloody Mary and Very Berry around the edge of the canvas. Once my color was applied, I used a damp piece of paper towel to remove the ink from the molding paste to help the pattern pop.

The vellum quote from the Quick Quotes Sentiments Bundle was long enough to wrap around to the back side of the canvas. I secured the vellum to the back of the canvas frame with staples.

I tucked the die-cut leaves from the kit on both sides of my flower cluster. I colored the edges of the leaves with Bloody Mary and Lemonade PowderPuff Chalking Ink to create the beautiful orange hue.

I added a small Wine Gingham bow to my branch for a fun pop of color.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Halloween Mini Album - Paper Wings Productions

Hi! I'm sharing the mini album that I put together with the October Nesting Components Mixed Media Kit for Paper Wings Productions today. This kit is one of my favorite PWP kits to date and I had a blast assembling this spooky book!

The Metal Buckles were my favorite item in the kit. I attached them to the Woven Cover using the matching brads that come with the buckles. I marked where I wanted to attach each buckle to the cover with a pen and then punched a hole through the cover using a hammer and nail. I cut strips of Grunge Board and dyed them with a mixture of black mist and coffee to create faux leather straps to hold my album shut. I used brads to fasten the straps to the back cover of the album, attaching them using the same process as the buckles.

I embellished the cover with my favorite stamp from the Art Textures Cling Stamp Set and a rub-on from the kit. The package of rub-ons from the kit includes two sheets of rub-ons, one in black and one it white! The white rub-ons work great on dark surfaces like the album cover.

I used the 7 Gypsies Wicked Journal Pages and Wicked Ephemera packages from the kit to cover the brads punched through the front and back covers of the album and also for the album pages. I distressed and inked the edges of the papers to give this album an aged look. The mix of page sizes and colorful vintage images gives this album a lot of visual interest. Also, both the Wicked Journal Pages and Wicked Ephemera are double-sided!

I embellished the pages of my album with images from the Clip Art Sheets and some Halloween Themed Stamp Sets. I used the Halloween Mix It Up Clear Stamp Set and the Good Witch Cling Stamp Set on the journaling tag and photo.

The Clip Art Sheets from the kit include a spooktacular mix of vintage Halloween images and  photos, like this one from the classic film The Wizard of Oz. I framed a vintage image on the left page, underneath the photo of my daughter, with the new Fringe Lace Clear Stamp.

I used the Good Witch Cling Stamp Set again here to dress up one of the ephemera pages along with a photo of my daughter "flying" around the backyard. I added a black rub-on directly to the photo.

Here are a couple more pages from my album. I have plenty of space to add journaling and photos from upcoming Halloween parties and trick-or-treating fun.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope I have inspired you to create a Halloween themed album of your own. This kit is sold out, but you can still pick up the stamp sets, Woven Cover and Metal Buckles from the Paper Wings Production Store while supplies last. Sweet - 13arts Challenge #11

Hi! I'm sharing a layout that I created for Challenge #11 at 13arts. I've been holding on to some beautiful Frosted Life and All is Love patterned papers for some time now and I found myself with a free morning and the time to make something fun! I did my best to create a symmetrical design. Each half of the page has the same number of embellishments although the size, color and shape of each element is different, which is close enough for my dominant left-brain!

I didn't want to cover up the super cool peeled paint design on the patterned paper, so I only applied a light coat of gesso and some mist splatters to select areas of the background.

Here's the inspirational challenge image. I incorporated the color palette, horizontal and vertical lines and small circles into my design. I also tried to add intricate design elements like those shown in the beautiful architectural photo with a string heart and fancy chipboard pieces.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! If you want to join the fun you have until the 27th to link up your challenge piece to the 13arts blog.

Military Card Set - Paper House Productions

Hi! I'm sharing a military themed card set today for Paper House Productions. Its always a challenge for me to find a good camouflage patterned paper. The Paper House Productions My Hero patterned paper has a fabulous real life quality to the design. I've washed my husband's uniforms more times than I can count and this paper really looks like fabric! This paper sports the same tough and tenacious quality of the uniform and the men who wear it and is just perfect for creating cards with some grit.

I cut the eagle from the patterned paper and adhered it to my card with some adhesive foam to add dimension. I embossed some cardstock to add another pattern to my card. I finished the card with some Military Family Cardstock Stickers. The cardstock stickers are great embellishments and they don't add bulk, so I can easily slip this card into an envelope and drop it in the mail.

I created both of the cards with one sheet of My Hero patterned paper! I kept the design of this card simple, and again, added some Military Family Cardstock Stickers for embellishments. The stickers have a wonderful lifelike quality of worn leather and metal and I think they look fantastic as the focal point of the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! For those of you who have friends and family serving in the Military, I'd like to thank you for your service and sacrifice!

Autumn Happiness - Quick Quotes

Hi! I'm sharing a fall layout that I created with the October Club Q Page Layout Kits for Quick Quotes today. The Club Q Kits this month include patterned papers from the new Happiness Collection.

The color palette is fantastic for fall. The Happiness line combines traditional Autumn hues with several bright shades for a fun, fresh color palette that is so fun to work with! My family recently visited a local apple orchard and I captured my daughter enjoying her first fresh apple of the season.

The Happiness 400 patterned paper features a colorful rectangle design. I cut the paper into individual rectangles, sorted them by color and then overlapped them to created a fun background for my page.

I cut this vibrant title block from one of the die-cut sheets included in the Club Q Kit. The wave design traveling across the letters had me thinking about cool breezes and swirling leaves.

I finished my page with some patterned leaf die-cuts.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Intricutz Wreath Card - Couture Creations

Hi! I'm sharing a Christmas card for Couture Creations today. I used the NEW Wild Holly Embossing Folder, from the Wrapped In Joy Collection, on the patterned paper base of my card. I put together a layered wreath with cuts from my favorite Dazzling Doily Die and two dies from the Sophia Intricutz Die Collection.

Follow these steps to assemble this card:

Step One: Select two different colored pattered papers. Trim the papers to fit inside each other on a card base. Emboss the top pattered paper with the Wild Holly Embossing Folder. Adhere the patterned paper layers to the card base with Double-Sided Tape.

Step Two: Select three shades of green cardstock. Cut one piece of green cardstock with the Dazzling Doily Die. Cut three pieces of another shade of green cardstock with the Connexion Intricutz Die. Cut the last piece of green cardstock with the Assouline Intricutz Die. Attach the die-cut layers to the front of the card with Foam Mounting Tape with the Dazzling Doily die-cut on the bottom, the Connexion die-cuts in the middle and the Assouline die-cut on the top.

Step Three: Highlight the flower centers of the Assouline die-cut with Red Lust Self-Adhesive Gemstones.

Step Four: Add a sentiment to the center of the wreath.

Step Five: Finish the card by adding a gold bow to the bottom of the wreath.

Halloween Greetings - Paper Wings Productions

Hi! I'm sharing a Halloween themed layout that I created for Paper Wings Productions today. I'm having a blast working with the October Halloween Nesting Components Mixed Media Kit! Once again, I've used the cardboard piece that helps to protect the kit contents during mailing, as the base for my layout.

I added a lot of fun color and texture to the background of my layout. I used the Triangle Border Clear Stamp Set, Lindy's Stamp Gang Jack-O-Lantern Embossing Powder, molding paste, Tattered Angels Black Magic Glimmer Mist and a Raspberry Gelato to create the design on the base of my page.

Complete the following steps to create this colorful background:

Step One: Using the Triangle Border Clear Stamp Set and Jet Black Archival Ink (or similar waterproof ink), stamp a triangle pattern across and down the cardboard. Note: I used Archival Ink because I wanted the background to be waterproof and permanent as I knew I would add several other wet mediums on top of the design.

Step Two: Using a favorite stencil, I chose a triangle design to coordinate with the stamp set, and some molding paste, randomly apply molding paste over the stencil onto the background of the layout. While the molding paste is still wet, sprinkle with Lindy's Stamp Gang Jack-O-Lantern Embossing Powder, shake off the excess powder and set with a heat gun. The shimmer of the Lind'y Stamp Gang Embossing Powders is fantastic! Note: Adding embossing powder over the molding paste creates a more dimensional design versus using embossing powder alone. The molding paste also helps the embossing powder stick to the page.

Step Three: Scribble a Raspberry Gelato onto a craft sheet, spritz with water, blend the color with your finger and then press the layout into the pool of color. Note: You may have to press the layout into the Gelato color several times to get adequate coverage and saturation.

Step Four: To apply small splatters of black ink to the background, remove the spray nozzle from a bottle of mist and fling the nozzle tube at the background.

The embellishments included in the kit are spooktacular! The wooden shapes and Clip Art Sheets (Yes, there's 2 included in the kit!) are my favorites.

I distressed and layered several of the 7 Gypsies Journal Pages under the Clip Art photo. The bright yellow sentiment was also cut from a Clip Art Sheet. The wooden bird looks right at home perched at the top of the photo!

I added this spooky wooden cat to my flower cluster. These wooden embellishments aren't just eye candy, but a great way to help secure ribbon to the page!

Here's a photo of the complete October Halloween Nesting Components Mixed Media Kit:

This kit contains:
Lindy's Stamp Gang Orange Two-Toned Embossing Powder
Tim Holtz Worn Book Cover
Two-Ring Binder with Brads
Metal Buckles (3)
Ribbon (2) - Black Sheer Organza and Black/White Chevron
Clip Art Sheets (2)
Wooden Shapes (3 - Cat style will vary)
Paper Wings Productions Triangle Border Cling Stamp Set
7 Gypsies Wicked Journal Pages
7 Gypsies Wicked Ephemera
Tim Holtz Apothecary Remnant Rubs

This kit would retail for over $42, our price is $32!
