Chalkboard Mason Jar Shaker Cards by Dana Tatar for FabScraps

Hi! I'm sharing a set of chalkboard mason jar shaker cards that I created for FabScraps today. I was inspired to create these chalkboard cards from the chalkboard designs on the B-side of the Whisper patterned paper from the Lavender Breeze collection. The chipboard mason jars that I used as the starting point for these cards are actually pages from the mini album in this line. The cut-out windows were a great opportunity to add a shaker element!

Supplies:
Lavender Breeze Mason Jars Chipboard Album (DC96 001)
Lavender Breeze Small Clear Stickers (ST96 002)
Lavender Breeze Hearts x 6 Chipboard + Clear Packaging (DC96 011)
White Cardstock
Chalkboard Paint
White Chalkboard Marker
White Twine
Sequins
Purple Pigment Ink
Twinkle Watermark Ink
Clear Embossing Powder
Walnut Hollow HotMarks Tool (Optional)

1. Brush the mason jar chipboard pieces (2 solid mason jars, 2 mason jars with windows) with chalkboard paint. Let dry. Use a white chalkboard marker to highlight the mason jar chipboard pieces with windows by tracing over the detail lines on each piece.

2. Fill the chipboard packing with heart shaped purple sequins. Use the HotMarks tool to seal the plastic, creating a sealed pouch. (A strong adhesive would also work to seal the sequin-filled pouch.) Adhere the sequin-filled pouch to the back of the windowed mason jar. Use strong adhesive to glue the two painted mason jars together. This will be the front of the card. Repeat this process for the second card.

4. Trace two mason jar shapes onto a piece of white cardstock and cut out. Glue one piece of white cardstock to the back of the painted mason jar card front. Fold the second piece of mason jar cardstock just under the lip of the jar. Apply adhesive above the fold line. Attach this piece of cardstock to the back of the card front. Repeat this step for the second card.

5. Apply purple ink to a chipboard heart with a cut-out center from the Hearts x 6 chipboard set. Cover the heart with watermark ink. Sprinkle on a layer of clear embossing powder and apply heat to set. Tie the chipboard heart to the top of the mason jar with white twine. Repeat this process for the second card.
